Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position works independently with minimal supervision, and oversees the institute's policy work around school transportation planning, including one of the institute's largest externally funded projects administering the Transportation Information Management System (TIMS) for the western half of North Carolina, on behalf of the NC Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI). The position requires both strong interpersonal skills in working with local education agencies (LEAs, or local school districts) and sophisticated technical and analytic skills as outlined in this position description. It provides supervision for at least one EHRA full-time position, as well as temporary position reports as projects require.This position is simultaneously administrative, relationship-driven, instructional, and technical: (1) Administratively, the position supervises other programmatic staff assigned to the institute's School Transportation Planning team, and manages project budgets, timelines and deliverables; (2) In terms of relationships, the position interacts with a broad range of clients requiring strong communication skills and the ability to use a wide variety of technical resources for providing high level technical support to clients; on a daily basis, the person in this position may work with school superintendents, upper level administrative personnel, school bus mechanics and /or bus drivers; (3) In regards to instruction, the position requires advanced analytical work and in-depth understanding in providing consultation, support, and/or training to clients on computer or other technology-based systems; and (4) Technically, this position provides advanced technical support for hardware, applications, operating systems and networking for LEAs throughout western North Carolina, requiring a broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support clients’ technical needs.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Bachelor of Science in education, computer science, organizational science or other related field; past experience working with school transportation planning at the LEA level; technical knowledge of Edulog software, ArcGIS, Microsoft servers, and Microsoft Office products (with above average skills in the use of Excel, Access and SQL to create and manage a working database).

Project management; consultancy skills; training experience; technical support; technical solutions development, including cloud-based solutions.
