Under general direction, to plan, organize, manage and participate in the accounting and fiscal record management and reporting activities and functions; supervises, reviews and evaluates the performance of accounting, purchasing, and payroll personnel; performs the more technical and specialized accounting and financial record management and reporting functions; and to do other related work as required.
Principles, methods, practices, and procedures of school district accounting, budget planning, fiscal record management, and data processing systems;
Legal mandates, policies, and regulations pertaining to accounting and fiscal record management and reporting;
Computer-assisted accounting and fiscal record management systems and equipment;
Principles, practices and techniques of organization, supervision, employee motivation, and training.
Perform highly responsible and technical accounting, budget and fiscal planning functions and activities;
Organize, supervise, train and evaluate the work of accounting personnel;
Prepare fiscal, financial and narrative reports in a clear and concise manner;
Review, audit and verify financial statements and related summaries and reports;
Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls;
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Experience and Education
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
Four years of responsible accounting and financial record management and reporting experience, including one year in educational organization management or supervisory capacity. Two years of college work with an emphasis in financial management and accounting; and five years experience in a business office having a background in accounting, purchasing, payroll, and supervision; at least one year in educational management and supervisory capacity.
Bachelor of Arts or higher degree from an accredited institution, including an emphasis in accounting, budget planning, business management or closely related fields.
