The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Vice President/Controller and is responsible for a variety of accounting functions and will work with numerous financial systems to complete daily, weekly, monthly and year-end tasks. This position will work independently, investigate issues when needed and perform necessary reconciling and correcting actions in accordance with HUECU policy and procedures under moderate supervision providing high levels of customer service to internal and external customers in a professional, timely and accurate manner.
The HUECU Finance department is responsible for accounts payable and vendor management, expense report processing, accounts receivable, accounting (general, investment, participation and secondary market investor), wire settlement (incoming and operational outgoing), financial analysis, budgeting, audit management (internal & external), bank exam and regulatory compliance, general ledger journal entry processing, fixed assets, prepaid expense and setting of HUECU specific policies and procedures. The Staff Accountant participates in all of these functions to varying degrees.
- Share department responsibility ensuring daily operational tasks are completed in an efficient, professional, timely and reliable manner.
- Loomis/ATM reconciliations, including balancing, funding and addition/deletion of terminals and work with appropriate internal and external departments as required.
- Completion of balance sheet, bank account, and credit card reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner and reconciliation item resolution is within policy guidelines.
- Work with other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve issues.
- Performs special assignments, projects and other duties, as assigned.
- Participates in:
- Daily/weekly/monthly:
- Secondary market and private investor accounting, reporting and remittances.
- Liquidity reporting, including appropriately funded accounts to cover student loan and investment draws & department Federal Reserve balancing, incoming wire posting, outgoing wire transfers and the posting of PSCU daily activity to the general ledger.
- Audit, Board, tax reporting and regulatory reporting preparation.
