The Department of Global Health and Population seeks a detail-oriented, organized, and excellent writer to join Professor David Bloom's research group as a Faculty and Program Coordinator. The Faculty and Program Coordinator will support Prof. Bloom's research team by executing complex administrative duties related to the day-to-day functioning of the group's research activities. Additionally, the Coordinator will help administer and coordinate two ongoing projects: The Program on the Global Demography of Aging (PGDA) and the Value of Vaccination Research Network (VoVRN). The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, demonstrated experience working with a wide range of constituents, and the capacity to maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external collaborators.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:- Providing administrative support to Prof. Bloom's research portfolio
- Independently composing written materials such as email correspondence, memos, letters of invitation, letters of recommendation, bios, faculty activity reports, meeting and workshop agendas, and conference summary reports
- Independently preparing materials for research presentations (such as PowerPoint slides, talking points, handouts, etc.)
- Preparing manuscripts, articles, and working papers for online submission, which includes copy-editing and proofreading technical manuscripts, drafting submission cover letters, reformatting articles, managing citations and references, and coordinating co-author signatures and disclosures
- Performing basic online research including article retrieval and other information as needed
- Assisting with the preparation of annual reports and grant submissions
- Reviewing and disseminating annual reports to Prof. Bloom's networks
- Maintaining the website for the Program on the Global Demography of Aging (PGDA), including posting working papers and ensuring that all information on the website is clear, accurate, and up to date
- Maintaining Prof. Bloom's faculty web page and CV
- Preparing and processing expense reimbursements and corporate card reconciliations for Prof. Bloom's team
- Liaising with the GHP administrative core team to set up new hires and oversee their on-\\boarding and assist in the onboarding of a team of student temporary research assistants
- Independently coordinating travel arrangements for faculty, staff, and visiting scholars, which may include preparing itineraries and documents to facilitate faculty, staff, and guest travel; assessing different itineraries for cost, convenience, and faculty preferences; facilitating the acquisition of travel visas for faculty and staff; reimbursing travel costs for outside visitors
- Serving as the primary administrative liaison with external groups (including but not limited to, the Gates Foundation, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, and Yale University)
- Planning team meetings and workshops by booking workshop venues, coordinating logistics and A/V needs, RSVPs, confirming attendees, preparing agendas, etc.
- Planning large, complex meetings and events with external constituents, including various steering committees, donor representatives, and other universities or research institutes

PLEASE NOTE: When normal business operations resume, this job may require infrequent domestic and international travel.
PLEASE NOTE: The primary work location for this position is Boston, Massachusetts. Until our return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process and position will be conducted virtually – including virtual interviews, remote onboarding, and remote work. The remote nature of this position is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required once the School and this role return to an operational status that supports it.

Duties and responsibilities continued:- Managing complex calendars, scheduling appointments with students and others, and making room and catering arrangements as necessary
- Greeting visitors as the primary contact on David Bloom's behalf and responding to phone calls, faxes, voicemail and emails
- Ordering office supplies, equipment, software, books, and articles for the Bloom team
- Providing general administrative support to researchers
- Coordinating IT and technical operations, including procurement of office equipment and computers, and printer and computer configuration and set-up
- Other duties as assigned
