Essential Functions:

* Assist in daily operations.

* Develop, plan and conduct employee training programs.

* Design and implement safety practices and procedures.

* Evaluate school bus drivers and attendants, maintaining required paperwork.

* Attend crash and Worker's Compensation scenes, evaluate and complete all necessary paperwork. 

* Purchase and inventory all necessary special education equipment.

* Coordinate, distribute and track Illinois School Bus Route/Road Hazard Checklist. 

* Maintain Department of Transportation vehicle damage and cleanliness records.

* Maintain records and insure compliance for any applicable Federal, State, County or local obligations/legalities pertaining to safety, licensing and/or permitting. 

* Promptly investigate, evaluate and address all safety concerns from the public, school district or Department of Transportation employee. 

* Work in concert with the Director of Transportation to recruit, interview and recommend for hire, school bus drivers and attendants. 

* Keep records of safety and worker's compensation claims.  Develops programs to reduce claims. 

* Assist in Collective Bargaining.

* Provides safety articles for newsletter.

* Assists in maintaining current information on District Transportation Website page. 

* Participate in County, State and National Transportation Organizations.

* Conduct regular meetings with Trainers. 

* Maintains conduct reports, incident reports and bus video footage and provides to schools. 

* Reviews and recommends updates for technology practices. 

* Manages Instant Alert Messaging System for Transportation.

* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

* Education:  College degree or such practical life experience as the Boards of Education find acceptable. 

* Experience: Supervisory experience preferred. 

* Licenses/Certifications: Must possess or be willing to obtain a State of Illinois School Bus Driver Permit and requisite Commercial Driver's License.  Must possess or be willing to obtain NAPT professional certifications.
