Position Summary:
Organize events, program, and professional development to support a community that honors inclusion and fosters respect, engagement, and the ability to embrace the needs of our students as individuals and as a community.
The Assistant Director of Residential Life is responsible for providing organizational support, planning, and implementation of the student life events, curriculum, community service with local organizations, and program mission. The Assistant Director is also responsible for providing support in the evenings to students and dorm faculty and helping coordinate specialty events for student activities. In addition, this individual will be a liaison to parents by providing them weekly feedback on their child’s student life program. As a weekend supervisor, the Assistant Director of Residential Life provides direction, support, and counsel to both students and staff.
- Coordinate, organize, and oversee the residential and student life curricula and events
- Support staff in implementation and instruction of mission-minded work
- Support students in identifying and working towards personal goals
- Communicate student progress/experience to parents
- Work some weekends during the school year as assigned
- Work 10 overnights during faculty off-time
Secondary Duties of Assistant Director of Residential Life:
- Keep documentation of each student experience initiative
- Effectively communicate to staff all mission/program efforts
- Act as a resource for support, supplies, or research on curricula matters
- Gain certification in CPR and Basic First Aid during staff training.
- Twice a year, read and edit student experience reports
- Locate off campus opportunities for students
- Attend Residential meetings
- Attend Supervisory meetings
- Assist in student transportation
- Participate in campus wide community events/Parents’ Weekends
Qualifications Required:
- Skills: Candidates need to have the following:

- Knowledge: Experience in these areas preferred, but training provided throughout the year:
- General knowledge of learning disabilities.
- General knowledge of adolescent development.
- Behavior management techniques.
- Extra-curricular interests to share with students.
- Education/Training/Certifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree required and comparable life experience.
- Policies and Procedures- Follow and abide all Middlebridge School policies and procedures.
