The Walker School seeks dedicated, safety-minded Bus Drivers to join our transportation team. Our drivers play an essential role in the communities they serve, prioritizing safety, customer service, and a genuine, caring attitude toward students. This role involves safely operating school and mini-coach buses on scheduled routes and during school-approved activities, both within and beyond school boundaries, following Federal, State, and Local laws as well as The Walker School’s transportation policies.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts daily inspections and cleaning of buses and related equipment per safety standards and school policies.
Ensures the safety of student passengers and manages their behavior on the bus, reporting any unsafe situations as necessary.
Operates essential bus equipment and accessories, including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and highway warning kits.
Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checks for fuel, oil, coolant, and tire inflation to maintain vehicle readiness.
Core Qualifications
Must be at least 25 years of age.
Valid CDL (Class A, B, or C) and a clean driving record with a minimum of three years of licensed driving experience.
Ability to meet physical and mental standards for school bus operation, verified by a physician’s examination (required by DOT guidelines).
Capability to sit, walk, or stand for prolonged periods.
