Position Description

Due to the wide range of tasks, the Research Operations Manager (ROM) and the rest of the Lab Ops team, serving as points of contact and coordinating with a variety of school units is essential. Following are some of the key interactions that currently take place:

• Strategic Procurement for complex purchases, vendor master agreements, and asset management/audits
• Environmental Health and Safety for annual lab inspections, use/storage/disposal of hazardous agents, chemical inventories, and ongoing consultations to discuss research needs
• Custodial Services, Facilities, Security, Shipping & Receiving, IT, etc.

Research Operations Manager (ROM):
The ROM will be part of the Lab Ops team, playing an essential role in facilitating the research and collaborative relationships of scientists from regional institutions and affiliated hospitals in a unique and dynamic environment.

Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the position, the ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues at all levels, as well as the ability to work independently and take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The ROM plays a highly visible and impactful supporting role, engaging in all aspects of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of multiple research spaces. Exceptional dependability, attention to detail, and time management skills, as well as good judgment and the ability to problem solve, are critical qualities for success.

The responsibilities of the ROM will include administrative and scientific duties. Examples of these duties include processing complex purchase requests, drafting research documents (e.g., SOPs and COMS protocols), and managing small molecule compounds. The ideal candidate for this position is results-driven and seeks new opportunities for growth.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Master's degree in a science field preferred.
• Strong computer skills, especially in MS Office suite products and other complex web-based data systems.
• Serve as the primary contact and have the responsibility of addressing the lab's before- and after-hour needs.
• The ability to easily commute to campus to address equipment alarms that require immediate, in-person attention is essential.
• Interest in biomedical research is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

The ability to handle hazardous materials, as well as lift, move, and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.

This is an in-person position based on our campus in Boston.
